This post will explain how to check the status of a vehicle inspection in Kenya. Vehicle inspections are often handled by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
In order to verify that commercial cars on Kenyan roads conform with the National Transport and Safety Authority's traffic laws, the National Transport and Safety Authority Motor Vehicle Inspection procedure is mandated.

It is always easy to check status of a vehicle inspection in Kenya, simply follow below steps
- Navigate to the TIMS https://tims.ntsa.go.ke/ or click this link
- Navigate to the right side of the Individuals tab and click Register.
- Click “verify” after entering your ID serial number (not the ID number).
- After that, enter your KRA pin and your mother’s maiden name correctly.
- You will then be asked to enter your occupation and mobile phone number.
- To proceed, click the button next to the phone number to request a verification code.
- A verification number will be sent to the phone number you provided shortly.
- Add the code to the verification tab, and you’re done. You are now able to access your TIMS account successfully.
Cost of vehicle inspection in Kenya
Bookings for vehicle inspections must be paid for by the customer to the NTSA. Regardless of kind, size, or class, the vehicle inspection charge was originally fixed at Kshs. 1000 for all vehicle categories. The inspection charge is presently not uniform due to engine capacity. As a result, the price varies based on engine capacity, as seen below:

Private vehicle owners can have their vehicles inspected for a fee ranging from Kshs to Kshs. Kshs 2000 to Kshs 3500, depending on the engine capacity of the vehicle.
